Garmin Edge 205 Cycle Computer

Garmin Edge 205

Features & Description

This is a GPS-enabled personal trainer and cycle computer for competitors or weekend cyclists.

The Edge 205 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike.

The unit automatically acquires GPS satellites when you switch it on, measuring speed, distance, time, calories burned. It can also record routes for review later. If you want to track your heart rate, cadence, climb and descent you can get the Edge 305.

No calibration is required so you can just put it onto the bike mount and go. The GPS receiver is sensitive enought to keep your position even in tree cover, for reliability when displaying location, distance and speed information.

Garmin's Virtual Partner lets you race a virtual competitor over a specified distance and speed.
You can also set up courses to race against a previously recorded time, for comparison as your training progresses.

The Auto Pause is a useful facility for when you slow down or stop and the Auto Lap automatically starts a new lap each time you pass a specified location or travel a preset distance.

Garmin also has free software which you can use to analyse and store data from your workouts perhaps overlaying your ride on a map so you can see how elevation and various other factors affect your performance.

Online, there is also the website MotionBased.com, Garmin's application that provides analysis, online mapping and route sharing. Serious athletes can also use TrainingPeaks.com, designed to help athletes train for any event.
